Getting Started

The Review Process

This section describes how to perform a review cycle, first from a Reviewer's side, and then from the Author's side when taking care of the feedback.

For Reviewers

The procedure below assumes you are a user with a Reviewer license, not a full Author user.

  1. When you receive the e-mail with the review assignment, just open the e-mail and click the link:

It is also possible for reviewers to log in and select the assignment in the Active assignments list:

    Optional way for Authors

If you have a full Author user license, you can also click the context menu next to any component and select Review to enter the review mode:

Either way it will re-direct you to document in the Review interface.

  2. In the topic that is opened, click on any text you want to comment and add your comment(s). The text itself is not editable for reviewers. (Authors and Contributors can open it in the editor).

    Tip

If you want, you can start by viewing all other comments made so far:

  3. When you have completed the review, and added your comments, complete the assignment with the button Your assignment at the top. You can select to approve it or reject it.

An e-mail will then be sent to the user (the author) that created the assignment when all assignees are done. Your comments will be included in the email notification as well.

For Authors

When all reviewers have completed the assignment, the author can go to the review mode to go through the feedback, either by clicking the link in the confirmation email, or going there directly in Paligo and do the following:

  • Show all comments to get a full overview.

  • Hide all comments, and then click each one to go through them individually.

  • Open any topic that has issues, by clicking Open in Paligo Editor under each comment pane.

    Tip

Ctrl-click (or Cmd-click on a Mac) to open the topic in a separate tab.

  • View the comments right there in the editor, using the same comment features as in the Review interface. Just activate the Review pane:

    Tip

The number next to the comment icon shows the number of comments not yet taken care of (i. that have no status set. See more below).

It only shows comments with no status that are not added by yourself.

Comments are highlighted in a light purple (just like the Review status in other places). In the default view, the comments will show in a floating widget:

  • To view comments in a sidebar, just activate the full screen distraction-free mode:

Clicking in a comment or in the marked text segments (yellow for segments with comments) will sync to the associated comments in the review sidebar.

  • To respond to comments, add comments in the same conversation box.

  • When you have taken care of an issue, you can set the status:

    • To set it on the individual comment, click the comment itself.

    • To set it on the entire conversation, click the statusicon.png icon in the right bottom corner.

  • When you are done with all issues, you can reassign the assignment from the Assignments widget on the dashboard:

  • At the end of a Review assignment, when all have approved, all comments are automatically archived. An author can also choose to archive comments manually here.

    Note

This is an option that you decide in the Planner settings. You can choose either not auto-archive comments at all,  archive the comments at the end of an assignment, when all have approved, or archive them when another assignment starts on the same publication.

Archived comments will be hidden by default, but you can select to view them:

They will then be displayed in grey:
