Using Topic Templates

If you have content that usually is, or should be, structured the same way, you can create templates to simplify creating new such topics and/or to make them more consistent.

  1. Create a template by creating a topic, just like you normally would, but create it in the Templates Library. Create the content that you want each new topic based on it to have, for example a troubleshooting topic:

  2. Then to use the template, when you create a new topic, in the Create content dialog just select the template instead of any of the other component types:

The new topic will have the troubleshooting table (in this example) already present in the topic, ready to be filled out.
